Where to Go When Google Notebook Goes Down

I started using Google Notebook around the beginning of its existence. It was a great service, web-based, tied to other Google apps and had a good Firefox extension for adding clippings, images and links to a notebook.

That all changed once Evernote added a web-based version to their offering. I made the switch. Since then all my web clipping, bookmarking and much more has been dumped into Evernote.

Now, Google has announced the end of development on Notebook. While I have switched to Evernote, anything I had previously put into Gnotebooks is still there. In the interest of saving that data, I think its time to move it to another location.

Over at Lifehacker, Kevin Purdy has posted a few suggestions of where and how:

The developers point users to Google services they may already be using, like Docs and Gmail’s new task manager. That’s fine and good, but it’s also scattering your favourite car’s parts on your lawn. Here’s where we recommend turning to if you enjoyed Google Notebook’s grab-anything ubiquity

Evernote is coming out with an import! I just discussed it with them yesterday. We have an integration with them that all of this effects. When you use Evernote, you can also assign out tasks and send messages seamlessly through the Pelotonics system.

Joshua: I’ll take a look at UberNote.

Troy: Thanks for the heads up. That would be a big help.
