bubbl.us allows users to create mind-map-style diagrams online. You start with a central topic and then expand it by diagramming words and ideas related to the centre. Keyboard and mouse controls are straightforward and the Help box shows tips that change as you mouse over the different parts of the work area. Registered users can save diagrams for future use.

bubbl.us is free and there’s a spot on the lower right of the screen where sponsors can sign up to support the service. There’s no information about who’s behind the project, but they don’t ask for too much personal information when setting up an account. If you want to be extra safe, use a throw-away identity and email account.
