How to Create a To-Do from an E-mail in Lotus Notes

Last week I covered, How to Create a Calendar Entry from an E-mail in Lotus Notes. The same basic steps apply to your to-do list. You can add a task with a few keystrokes, when you start with an e-mail message.

For example: Dan sends an e-mail with a press release about an upcoming event. You want to post the information to your blog, so you create a reminder in your to-do list.

Here are the steps:

1) Open your in-box and select the message containing the appointment details.

2) Click the “Copy Into New” (Alt+9) drop down box from the Action Bar and select “New To Do” (T).

3) A new to-do window will open with the information from the e-mail subject as the subject and the e-mail text in the Description section.

In Outlook (e.g. Exchange), you can do the same thing by selecting an email in your inbox (or any folder for that matter) and simply drag it onto the task pane. You will have a new task/to-do which you can then open and edit as required.
