Give a Goat for Christmas

The holiday season can be a time for giving beyond the boundaries of our day-to-day existence. We don’t have to limit our gift giving to family and friends. We can make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable people, all over the world. We can make the gift directly or on behalf of someone else. There are numerous agencies and organizations that handle this type of charitable giving. This list is not exhaustive, but highlights what can be done at this time of year.

These are just a few of the International organizations involved in this type of work. Take a look around your community. There is likely a local agency that would benefit from this type of giving.

Here in the Uk there has been a furore about donating goats – the Africans DON’T want them! They eat anything and this has caused a lot of deforestation and thus dwindling crops etc in sub Saharan Africa. We have been advised NOT to donate goats – the cows and sheep die before goats do but goats cause far more problems than they are meant to resolve.

    Cheers

Thanks for that info. Dave. The furore hasn’t reached this side of the pond, as yet. The title of my post is intended to be a little tongue-in-cheek as there are many ways these organizations allow you to support those in need.

I didn’t mean to get on your goat, of course 8-)

I hope this phrase translates properly over there!
