Seven Deadly Sins

Today I snapped at a fellow employee that I thought had interrupted me,
Instead of taking a moment to see what they needed and if I could help.
Forgive me Lord.

I looked at my neighbour’s new luxury sedan and thought he was luckier that I,
Instead of being content with all I have been given.
Forgive me Lord.

At supper this evening I ate far more than I needed,
Instead of remembering the millions that will go to bed hungry.
Forgive me Lord.

I wished I owned a bigger fancier house,
Instead of being grateful for the wonderful home we have.
Forgive me Lord.

I spent too much time looking at the waitresses in their provocative outfits,
Instead of gazing at the beautiful woman who is my wife.
Forgive me Lord.

I ignored a panhandler today thinking I would never sink that low,
Instead of helping because, “except for the grace of God…”
Forgive me Lord.

I stayed in bed until the last possible minute,
Instead of starting the day with you.
Forgive me Lord.

Father, forgive me for those times that I have put me before you and my neighbour a distant third. Overcome my unwillingness to start each day with you. Help me to replace I with You and to see the world around me through your eyes.
