Advent Time in Norway

I came across the blog, Renny BA’s Terella* via a comment on my Advent Calendar post. Renny has posted a couple of items on seasonal traditions in Norway: Advent Time in Norway and The Christmas Fair in December.

I enjoy learning how Christmas is celebrated in other parts of the world. We can get insular about holiday traditions, thinking the North American way is the only way.

One tradition I’d like to see imported to this part of the world is the giving of gifts on St. Nicholas Day, December 6th. I think it would be great to free up December 25th to be only a celebration of Christ’s birth.

* BTW, if you want to know what a Terella is, he has a short explanation here.
