5pm – New Online Project Management Tool
I’m not involve with much project management. However, I know the importance good technology tools play in project management.
5pm is an online project management application that works inside your
browser and can be accessed from anywhere. It comes with what they call a “smart customizable interface” and a wide range of features:
- Simple projects/tasks tree navigation
- Powerful dual panel layout
- Customizable interface
- Timeline view
- Project/Task priority, deadline, status
- Project groups
- Hidden projects
- Email notifications
- Client login
- Access rights
- My Stuff” flat tasks list view
- Sorting projects/tasks by different fields
- European/US date/time formats
- Time Zones
- Contextual menus
- File upload
- Advanced search
- Rollover hints
- “Mark as Done” – quick tasks closing
- Projects/Tasks viewing filters
- Various visual clues
- Time report
- RSS support
You can check it here: www.5pmweb.com
There is an online demo. Also you can register your own free trial
account to play with it. And, if all your projects are on time and under control, you can play the Office Space game.

Yeah, I like Wrike too. Though 5pm have also released email integration feature, thay have a long way to go to become such a great product as Wrike. Wrike’s got drag-n-drop time-lines and flexible project structures, so it’s much easier to manage overlapping projects.
I think one of the main problems with project management tools these days is that they have a lot of bells and whistles that many project teams don’t use or need. One simple but sleek tool that has a focus on task tracking and time reporting is SantexQ. It’s a great little tool thats purely web based and it keeps project management simple. It’s free so it’s definitely worth a look.
Checked 5pm – loved it. I don’t care much about self-promotion posts here – it’s just spam.
Good article, good tip. And a great product! Absolutely love the interface and the attention to details. Just the features you need, the ones I don’t – don’t get in the way. And very well priced (I think they could charge more).
I feel that DeskAway (http://www.deskaway.com) is much better than 5pm.

Seems lik an interesting tool. I totally agree with you, that a good collaboration tool is very important. Right now we use Wrike – http://www.wrike.com. It’s a more mature application that 5pm, they launched their product at 2006. That’s why they have better feature set, i mean stuff like email integration, timetracking options, printable reports, drag-n-drop tasks. Very useful features that make our lives a lot easier.
