New Category

There was a period, between 1999 - 2001, I wrote the occasional Palm product review for a web-site called PalmGuru. Jim McCarthy has done a good job of archiving those old reviews on his current site -PocketAnywhere. I've linked to a few of the reviews that I can remember writing and that are still available on-line:
CompanionLink Pro
eWallet
MiniOffice
Pentopia Chameleon Stylus
Syncplicity
TealEcho
TealInfo
(At the rate software and hardware changes, you can imagine these reviews are dated.)

I figured I would set up a new category at my handheld site, A Believer's PDA and see if I can motivate myself to comment in a little more depth on some of the handheld software and hardware I use. Motivation will be the key. Even when I had Jim riding my case on submissions, I was notoriously slow. I'm not much of a personal taskmaster ;->

Do Not Be Alarmed

Christoph Blumhardt

"And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but they do not mean that the end has come. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places and there will be famines, but this is only the beginning of the sufferings...The gospel must first be preached to all nations...Everyone will hate you because of me. But he who endures to the end will be saved." --Mark 13:7-8, 10, 13

Lord our God, Ruler over the world, whose longing is to see your thoughts and your will in all peoples, we come before you and ask that we may find strength in your Word and never cease to hope for the coming of your kingdom. Even when the world storms and rages, even when the kingdoms of men rise up against each other and everything seems dark, even then be present. Let your kingdom go quietly forward, to the honor of your name. Help us come closer to the goal Jesus has shown us, closer to the time we wait for, the day of his coming when all shall be made new and good through your power, through your Spirit. Amen.

WOTD

The Word of the Day for March 23 is:

repartee • reh-per-TEE Audio iconnoun
1 *a : a quick and witty reply b : a succession or interchange of clever retorts : amusing and usually light sparring with words
2 : adroitness and cleverness in reply : skill in repartee

Example sentence:
Larry impressed the comedy club audience by maintaining his composure and acknowledging the heckler with only a brief, good-natured repartee.

Did you know?
One person often noted for her repartee was Dorothy Parker, writer and legendary member of the Algonquin Round Table. Upon hearing that Calvin Coolidge had died, she replied, "How can they tell?" The taciturn Coolidge obviously didn’t have a reputation for being the life of the party, but he himself came out with a particularly famous repartee on one occasion. When a dinner guest approached him and told him she had bet someone she could get him to say more than two words, he replied, "You lose." "Repartee," our word for such a quick, sharp reply (and for skill with such replies) comes from the French "repartie," of the same meaning. "Repartie" comes from the French verb "repartir," meaning "to retort."

*Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
