Blogging Tip - Watch Seasonal Schedules
If you are looking to attract new traffic to your blog with Christmas content posted in December, you’re too late. Whether you post gardening tips or Christmas crafts on your blog, you should be posting time-related content weeks and even months in advance. It takes time for search engines to index and list your content. If you want readers finding Christmas content in November, you need to have it posted by September.
That’s not to say that you shouldn’t post Christmas content at Christmas —or any other seasonal content at the appropriate time. For example, you could write a piece about gift giving on a budget on December 4. You keep regular readers coming back with good content and you can attract new readers who came to your site via a search for other subjects.
Something else to keep in mind when working with general seasonal content: there can be two cycles to work with. The Internet is a “world-wide” medium and the two hemispheres have opposing seasons. If you post summer gardening tips in March for Canadians, you can re-work those tips in September for Australians.
