6 Things You Need to Know About Homelessness

We had some record-breaking cold temperatures in Edmonton during November. As I was out walking, in -27C weather, without a hat, I tried to imagine —without success— how a homeless person would survive in that kind of cold.

As Canada’s largest non-governmental provider of social service, The Salvation Army operates 50 shelter and hostel programs throughout the country, providing over one-third of all shelter beds in Canada each night for those without an alternative place to sleep.
