Time Management Tip
Delegate
You can’t do everything yourself. Even Superman needed Jimmy Olsen from time to time. Learn to discern those things that you must do from those that can be done more effectively by someone else; both in the office and at home.
An effective delegation system requires these steps:
- Train — show the person how to do the task
- Entrust — don’t micro-manage. Let the person do the work without you peering over their shoulder.
- Follow-up — acknowledge, thank, reward, correct, etc.
- Evaluate — Is the delegation system working? What can be done to make it better?
