10 Free Productivity Applications for the iPhone
Posted in Productivity
I’ve had my iPhone for a week now and I’ve started playing around with some of the free applications available for the device. Here are ten free productivity apps for the iPhone. I haven’t had a chance to evaluate all of these, but they look the most promising to me.
- Evernote – Evernote for iPhone lets you capture any moment or idea as it happens, wherever you may find yourself. And, thanks to Evernote’s Internet-based sync, you can recall all your notes at any time from the iPhone, Mac, PC, the Web, or other mobile device.
- Jott – is a mobile notepad that turns your voice into notes. Tap the record screen and leave a note with your voice, Jott will then turn that note into text and add it to your Jott notepad or any of your lists. You can even cross off a completed item by swiping your finger across it on your Jott list. No matter where you are, now adding something to your notepad is as quick and easy as speaking.
- Checklist – is a simple list app. It’s designed to allow you to quickly and easily note down key tasks for the day on a clean and intuitive interface.
- YouNote – Another simple note-taking application. You can take the note in a number of formats (Drawing, Audio, Text, Photo,…) You can add criteria (tags, a color, the geolocation,…) which simplifies the filing and finding of the notes.
- iProcrastinate Mobile – is a simple task-management application. It uses “Smart Groups” to managed tasks that need grouping together: by date or subject. You can colour code your tasks, set priority or due date, break them down into smaller tasks or add team members for collaboration.
- VoiceNotes -is a voice recording application for iPhone that allows you to make short recordings and play them back later. VoiceNotes is perfect for making quick reminders of things that are inconvenient to write down in text.
- Zenbe Lists – is a list app. for your iPhone or the web. Lists are synched to be kept up-to-date. You can share Zenbe Lists. Collaborate on a grocery list, recommend your favorite restaurants, or pass along bullet points for a meeting.
- A Personal Assistant – is the iPhone client for Pageonce. Pageonce merges information from various sources into one page. It lets you access personal information—for example, the status of your utility bills, recent online purchases, and credit-card transactions. PageOnce uses bank-level security to keep accounts from being hacked.
- LockBox – lets you store and protect sensitive data such as credit card numbers, bank accounts, passwords, private notes, etc. The data is encrypted and protected by a secret code.
- Writing Pad – is text-input technology that allows you to enter text into touch screen devices by tracing word shapes rather than typing letters. Each shape traced on the soft keyboard with your finger is recognized as a word. Error correction is fast and easy. For rare names and acronyms, type only once and you will be able to shape write the next time.

Thanks for this… I have evernote and zenbe lists and use them regularly (in conjunction with my moleskines). Will check out the others.
What I am raving about is “lifecast” and “Klick” for posting to blog and flickr respectively. I also love “Twittelator” for my daily feed of tweets.
More on the stuff you use for the iPhone would be gratefully appreciated!
Blessings

I would also recommend the Yellow Pages app as a must-have for anyone who travels alot. It helps your locate and business listing and sorts them based on how far they are from you, complete with contact info, customer ratings and GPS directions. It has saved my bacon several times including an emergency refill of my wife’s lost prescription while on vacation (phew!) It’s free

Thanks for the post. I stumbled across these two because I also just got my phone the other day:
Instapaper to store website for later reading and rememberthemilk which is another online checklist provider but it offers a user interface especially for the iphone – for 15 days, then you’ll have to join them as a paying customer. But I am actually thinking about doing so…
