Software for the most productive people on the planet
When I gave up my Tungsten T3 for a BlackBerry, one of the Palm applications I really missed was Life Balance from Llamagraphics. Calling Life Balance to-do list software falls well short of the mark.
Some of the features that set it apart from most list software are:
- A built-in outliner so that you can organize your tasks into projects.
- The ability to reprioritize all the tasks in a project by dragging a single slider.
- An unlimited number of places (categories) that you can use to filter your to-do list.
- Dependencies, so that Step B won’t appear on your list until Step A is finished.
- Routine tasks, such as laundry, can be scheduled to occur at a flexible interval rather than scheduling for a particular day and time.
- Lead times to gently bring your attention to approaching deadlines.
- Integration with the schedule in your Palm’s built-in Date Book.
- Pie charts that provide feedback on how you are spending your time.
- Unique “balance” feature nudges your to do list to help to bring your actual time and effort allocation more in line with your desires.
There are Windows and Macintosh versions of Life Balance that can be run as stand alone apps. I haven’t used the desktop edition because, for me, part of the strength of this software was the ability to synchronize and access the information on my handheld.
Llamagraphics also publishes a quarterly newsletter with articles and tips on improving you life balance. In this issue:
- It’s all good, essay by Catherine E. White
- Llamas on the air..
- Introducing Coach MaryAnn Diorio
- Elite Performance seminar
- Quick Picnic tip
- Summer scenes
Life Balance – software for the most productive people on the planet!
