Four Tips to Unclutter Your Life
In March 2006, Time Magazine ran a cover story on The Multitasking Generation. Writer Claudia Wallis takes a look at the effects of technological multitasking on young people. Along the way, she also offers some tips on de-cluttering your life.
She says,
“That doesn’t exactly make me an expert (heck, no, for at this very moment there are 147 unread e-mails in my in-box). But I’m probably more conscious than most people about the pluses and minuses, the limits and excesses of trying to do too many things at once. And I’m happy to share a few tips that I know I should be applying more assiduously myself.”
Her four tips (and a related previous post by me):
- Create uninterrupted time for concentrating. (Guard your schedule)
- Manage your in-box. (The 10 Commandments of E-mail)
- Plan on face time. (Count on Interruptions)
- Manage your desktop, both real and digital. (10 Tips to Help Keep Your Desk Clean and Clean Your Messy Desktop)

It’s interesting to see that 15 months ago a Time Magazine “related article” dealt with “the Vortex of Facebook”. I wonder what that Dad would think of Facebook now?

Multitasking certainly has some limitations that we need to be aware of. Having no working knowledge about it will only be a risk if we take it.
