3 Simple Steps to Success

Posted in

As simplistic as it sounds, success is not a complex process. Regardless of how you define success (it’s not only about money) there are three key factors that drive your success.

  1. Have goals. Goals are essential to success. No one ever stumbles into success, without having a clear-cut goal. Develop a clear picture of where you want to go. Write it down and track it ruthlessly.
  2. Do what you love. The Chinese philosopher Confucius, in 500 B.C., said, “Do what you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” Jim Rohn says, “If you don’t like where you are, then change it! You’re not a tree.”
  3. Be driven and determined. Any success you achieve is in direct proportion to your desire and determination. The more desire and determination you have, the greater your success.

Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the formula, it’s not easy. If it were easy, everyone would be successful. The formula does work for those who faithfully follow the steps.

It’s always amazing how success is defined when your doing what you love. Money takes a backseat, prestige isn’t really important as long as you can work doing what you love.

The sad thing about it are the people that feel “stuck” because they’re afraid to take the risk in pursuing their dreams and goals.

The simplicity of success is awesome when it’s embraced. Nice post Ian!!

Thanks David.

I’m always surprised at people who have drive and passion for a hobby or activity, but don’t seem to make the connection with other parts of their lives. I.e., work or career is a necessary drudge, rather than something you enjoy doing.

Love it! Right now I’m having with 1 and 3. Then again, we’re not machines. Your formula (S = G + L + D) is a good “bring it home” reminder. Thanks!
