4 Tips to Help Alleviate Ergonomic-Related Strain
Be aware of how you are sitting. If you’re slouching or having to reach too far, you will likely start feeling stiff and sore. When your work area is set up to fit your body (ergonomics), good posture becomes easy.
Here are four tips:
- Keep your neck and head upright. Adjust your monitor so that it is an arm’s length away and the top of the screen is just below eye level.
- Keep your wrists straight and your forearms parallel to the floor. Use the height lever on your chair to make the necessary adjustment.
- Support your lower back. If you have an adjustable back rest on you chair, make sure it fits snugly against your lower back. If not, put a small pillow or rolled up towel behind your lower back.
- Keep your feet flat on the floor. If your feet don’t reach to sit flat on the floor, use a foot rest or three-ring binder to support them.
