Weblog Wonkiness

The messy desk collapsed beneath its load for a few hours this afternoon. For the past two or three days there have been ever-increasing periods where Wordpress would not render the pages. About mid-afternoon (MST) the site vanished altogether.

Initial contact with support at my web host was unable to identify the problem, so it was passed on to a different support area.

Meanwhile, I decided to do a little in-depth poking and was able to identify and sort the problem, with some help from the Wordpress support forum. Of course, when you’re not an expert, you’re never quite sure if you solved the problem or merely deflected it for the time being.

A couple of months ago, I installed a Wordpress plugin that used a cache to speed the loading of pages on IMD. It seems to have become completely constipated and refused to pass anything to the browser. I deleted the necessary line in the configuration file along with all the plugin files and things are back to normal.
